Walking Tour: Providence: A Jewel of a City
In 1636, Roger Williams thought God’s “divine providence” had led him to a wooded land with many rivers and lush hills known today as Providence. This capital city has led many lives. Once a manufacturing center and a railroad town, Providence is now a center for education, the arts, and tourism. Historic preservation has been a vital mission here since the 1950s. And yet, new parks, modern museums, renowned restaurants, world-class colleges and universities, public sculpture and more have revitalized this colonial town. Everything old is new again in Providence. Come join us and find out why. Enjoy the afternoon on this expert-led tour – a perfect introduction to mapping out the rest of your visit in “The Creative Capital”!
